Footman James - totally useless at quoting
I got an online quote from FJ for my 82 auto Cabby. ?99.80 - but their database wouldn't recognise the 1588 orig engine, said it had a 1481, so I accepted that. I have since replaced the 1588 with a 1781 carb engine from a later Mk1 cabby, so I rang them to update the quote.
Staggering - first it was ?278, then when I rang again it was ?340-odd. The engine change triggers a 25% loading, but since when has ?278 been a quarter more than ?99?
Bonkers, so I gave up. The people on the phone were pleasant, but useless.
Another quote from HIC was for ?184, but I got a fully comp policy from Adrian Flux for ?175, which seemed the best I could do without wasting a whole day on the phone.
Anyone else had a similar experience?

My birth certificate says I'm 49, but my wife says I act like an eight year-old
Just had a PDF with the HIC quote - they've quoted on an 85 hatchback auto - despite me saying it's an 82 cabby. I really do wonder.

I would love my quotes to be anywhere near your highest ones

I guess I'd need to know all the other details - address, points on licence, occupation, marital status, limited mileage or not, where the car is stored etc which I can't really ask you to post.
Basically, they're good for limited mileage classic car quotes for over 25s, anything else they're pretty uncompetitive.

You'd expect I'd be their ideal customer: 49 years old, limited miles, car garaged at night, married, no convictions, house owner, married, the lot. But after that performance I won't bother with FJ ever again.
