Footman james did me a quality deal. ?136 fully comp agreed value 3K full breakdown etc. Also nice people to deal with, i just hope that they would be as good in the event of a claim. Has anyone ever had experience of this with footman james.

That is a good deal!

I just remembered that the FJ quote was on 1500 miles limited, not 3000, but that is OK as the car has only covered 1800 miles in two years!

On the claim issue I have to 'fess up and say I had to claim on one of their classic policies for a Mk1 MX-5 I had a year or two back  . No complaints at all, although I would say its in your best interests to find places to do any repair work yourself.

FJ are pretty good as they give the chance to get quotes from 2  repair places of your choice, and as long as the quotes are sensible they will most likely approve them. I was a bit stuck as the car was undriveable and no-one is interested in coming out and giving quotes these days   . I also wasn't able to trailer the car to a bodyshop, so in the end had to go with FJ's default repairer (Nationwide). The repair quality was fine, and the work guaranteed for 3 years, but I did have to reject the repair at first as the paint match was poor, and I am a fussy so and so (it was a black car - hard to match). Its also worth confirming with the accident assessor and the repair place EXACTLY what work will be done before they start to make sure they rectify everything.

Without the agreed value policy though I could have been stuffed as the repairs came to about 2 grand and the non agreed trade value of the car wasn't much more than that. Luckily the agreed value was closer to 3.5 grand so there were no probs.

Ive currently got a claim going through with footman and james, and I have found them to be a nightmare.  The claim has been going on for nearly 3 months, I have constantly had to chase them for everything, in the end, I threatened legal action which seemed to hurry them along.  I wouldnt use them again.  Never before have I been guarunteed so many times that they will call back and then received no calls.  The accident wasnt my fault, but I have majorly suffered.
