Re: car insurance

Well my cars nearly ready for the road so I have been ringing round for insurance. I have phoned a couple today and got some interesting prices one wanted nearly 800 quid and another was 380 fully comp on a classic policy with limited milage which sounds reasonable to me bearing in mind what Ive done to my car. I am 34 years old and have limited the milage to 2000 a year so what does everyone else pay and does this seem reasonable any info would be great
I pay just over ?300 (310? I think?) with Adrian Flux. I'm 31 and have it on a classic policy, fully comp and 5000 miles a year. Car's an 1800 carb clipper (non-gti) GTi was just a few pounds more though (325?) at the time.

6000 miles, ?3000 agreed value, all mods declared, 30, garaged at night ?375 (includes breakdown cover though).
Think it is a bit of a postcode lottery to be honest or perhaps it is the 6000 miles???

Just keep ringing round Woza I got lots of varying prices but found if I insured my car on a classic policy it is alot cheeper so it might be worth checking one of the classic car mags for insurance companies who specialise in them

I am with footman james on a classic policy - noone else could get close in terms of price. Think the next nearest was about ?600… Think car crime is pretty high in my postcode (although the area seems ok to me!)
I think you can always keep your car if it is written off - as long as you don't claim. Or you can strip what you want from the car and claim but get a lowered value.
I had a car that was written off previously and the offer the insurance company made was a joke so I kept the car and broke it. Made nearly twice what they offered me and didn't lose my no claims bonus!
