Cant work it out

I am a customer with direct line for last 2 years, my mk4 golf valued at ?5000 cost ?800 a year to insure. Just rang to change the car to a MK4 Escort 1.4LX (?200 crapheap) They want ?600 to insure.

Done an online search with direct line (same company) as a new customer with the escort and got a price of ?392. Why would it be so different from net to quote on phone.

Do i now ring then and say i want to take it out at the online price or will they come up with some excuse.

you can buy it directly on line. its well known that insurance company artificially inflate renewals hoping youre laissez faire about it and just pay up.

log on to moneysavingexpert and use the guide to search all the insurance companies for a quote then  visit a cashback site and see if the lowest quoted company gives cash back.
its easy if you follow the guide.
