Agreed Value Help

Hi,

I have finally got the cabby back on the road after 2 years :D

I have got insurance with Lancaster for £170 with agreed valuation but I am not sure how much to say its worth.

It's a 1992 (K) Clipper in Inca Blue, brand new mohair roof, new springs, newish gearbox, bodywork is ok, a few dents but no rust and it has done about 86,000 miles.

Any idea what value I should say? At the moment it is agreed at about 2,000?

Any help is much appreciated  :)

Thanks guys,

Steve

They should have access to trade guides such as Glass's guide.

All depends really and i wonder if they would actually pay out if the worst happens my 20vt has an agreed value of £8500 with Adrian Flux they wanted to know break down of parts and cost of getting the work done ( i did it myself with a few club mates. )

If the agreed value isn't way over the market value (which they'll check using trade guides), they'll honour it. In any case, in theory they should be paying proper value of the car out - agreed value just cuts out the uncertainty, or allows you to "insure" a little extra for sentimental value etc.

How do they agree a highly modified car i wonder ?

I said i had a really nice Campaign then spent £££££ on suspension,Qpeng,Engine etc and totted it up if i had to sed to a garage to get the transplant done and they agreed straight away.

They don't - its the owner who sets the value. Generally for cars under £10,000 they'll take the owner's word for the value; for amounts over, they normally want an independent valuation or one by an owner's club. Its been suggested lots of times on here but nothing's happened. If the club wants help, I can offer to do them….

I think that is a good idea with my Splitty i paid £10.00 took it to one of the national "agreed value members" in the SSVC and got a lovely little booklet through with photos appraisal etc on and the money went into the club coffers.

Surely there should be this service on here ?

I can if it helps scan my one as it has 56 check points on it that could easily be used for MK1s i think they then feed the info into a computer programme that works out the value, the chap says there are 4 valuers and within £500 they are all the same value as they have some kind of training.

From looking around, I think i'll put down £2,500, does that sound about right?
