Agreed Valuation!

Agreed Valuation!

I have recently insured my cab with Lancaster insurance for the second year in a row. My car is not yet 15 years old so it doesn't qualify for a classic policy, however with limited mileage they were by far the best quote I had!

So to the point of this thread. Last year my agreed valuation was ?8000, I convinced them of this by sending photo's of my car and also showing them a copy of the original car add from when I bought the car!

This year however I now have my agreed valuation at ?10,000. Last year I showed my car at a few events and faired pretty well, so for my agreed valuation I sent photo's of my car at those shows too!

So baring in mind some of the recent events, vandalism for example, (sorry to bring that up again mk1jim) I urge all of you to get an agreed value on your car! These cannot just be replaced anymore, parts are few and far between etc etc etc

You will be asked to provide recent photo's as proof of condition. Mention your involvement in the club and give details of any major work carried out (ie re built engine) which might make the value higher!

Better to be safe than sorry!  :)

Good advice. My campaign is insurance with Footman James (Club Discount) on a classic policy with agreed value ?4000.

Cheers,

Drew.

When I took out the policy with Footman James I didn't get round to agreeing values. What stopped me is that I needed a valuation by a club official.
I guess I am kind of an official myself as I look after the cabrio register but thought it might be cheeky to come up with values myself

Is there any offical way to get cars valued by the club in the pipeline? It would definately be a good membership perk

I just sent in two pics to FJ - didn't need any club backup.

They have a simple form to fill out and send back

Doing the agreed value yourself is not such a big deal I think. You can insure it for any value you like within reason and pay the corresponding premium.

yeah makes sense, seeing that celebs can insure theirs arse for a million n that…

What I would like to know tho is how to roughly work out the value of your car!? :dontknow:

Being in Paisley there isn't anyone else who drives a mk1 cabby and I get a lot of questions, but to be honest I aint really sure how much it is worth…

I normally just say a lot

You only need a club official for cars worth over ?15000 8O

So you only have to agree it yourself!

Agreed value!

The agreed value for my car did not affect the premium, the premium was for a policy with agreed valuation and was paid before the valuation was set! Last year it was ?8000 so I kind of thought it would be similar, but I convinced them otherwise! So investigate this before agreeing the value, hopefully it won't affect the premium!  :D

Walt….!!!!!!! (cough, cough)

Just as aside on this one… I'm in a catch 22 situation. Priding myself that I have a real daily driver and use it throughout the year whatever the weather… looking outside today.. snow and ice everywhere!!…. I can't get a high enough limited mileage to allow me to qualify for a classic policy. I do over 9000 a year in the cabby and that is the highest limit that I could find. I'm on a normal policy and just pray that I'm ok.  8O

Sod law states that today is the day while en route to Ulitmate Dubs that my luck will run out!!!

Fingers crossed.

Dan,

You should be able to get a classic policy without mileage limit and with agreed value.
