Condition and prices do vary wildly, so don't be tempted to buy the first that comes along.
There were copies made by companies such as Lester from Italy around the late 80's and onward. The original Zender item wasn't a high quality piece of kit to start with ,1980's technology after all, and made from a dense foam that naturally degrades with exposure and time plus doesn't respond well to painting if it's been done.
The copies aren't just as good, but as they weren't being passed off as genuine there'll not be a Zender script or manufacturing detail cast into them and should be easily identifiable from a real one.
The genuine items end pieces have a metal bar molded into the casting for rigidity, but because the screw holes pass close by and moisture gets in they rust, swell and can eventually split the rubber.
There's current day fakes originating from Mexico… avoid like the plague. They're poorly made, ill fitting plus look dreadful and although they'll have the Zender script the whole thing's so obviously counterfeit you shouldn't get caught out.
I take it you're aware all versions simply screw into the bodywork… not easy or cheap to reverse.
