Hi guys, my fan belt snapped today. All the cogs are turning as they should, so nothing is seized. I'm hoping it's just a case of replacing my belt. I've been on GSF and euro carparts which all come up with several fan belt options. I can't see my engine number but it's a 1993 Rivage GTi anyone know which one I should order?
My dad used to say I squandered money, so I made an invested in my Rivage he's still not happy - but I love my money pit!!

Do you have power steering or air con?
If not as not many uk cars with either you need a 950x10 mm belt
Conti belts are good.
Out of stock at Euro.

You should not do any damage when the fan/alternator belt snaps as it drives the water pump and alternator, the only problems you do have with no belt is the car will over heat as no coolant is moving around the engine or the battery dies as it's not getting a charge.

Brilliant thanks so much. Yeah no power steering, no air con. The battery light came on when it snapped and the temp gauge went up as described. Hopefully I'll get it sorted ASAP

Once you fit the new belt you may need to retention it after a week or 2 as they seem to slightly stretch once fitted. New belt should be fitted every couple of years or 20,000 miles as part of a service then you should never have a snapped belt again.
