Hi Found a set of bbs rm (7.5 wide) for my gti cabriolet and am looking for advise on fitting some rear spacers to fill out the arch's it is lowered 40mm, also I've not picked any tyres yet but was thinking 195 45 15 all round.

195/45 will be perfect for a 7.5"

Man up boy!
Get out there and sort out your damn Wheels!
Probably about 25mm should space it nicely so you'll also need longer bolts and make sure they're hubcentric spacers too..
I always go 205 for tyre width on the back though so you might need 30mm for the extra missing tyre width. Depends on where you want it to sit too of course.

I know many owners go down that road but is it really that important to you especially at this time of year?
I just wouldn't worry about filling my rear gaps now and get back to your man flu on the sofa till spring! 😉 😂👍🏼
