Wheel plastic center caps

Post

Hi,

I'm trying to restore my golf to look as original as possible. I've had the steel wheels blasted and painted but now i'm struggling to get all the parts i need to get the center caps on.

I've found this diagram from a german parts website, but i still don't know what all the parts are

Does anyone know know #10 is retained. Maybe i bought the wrong one but i don't see how it's clipped in place.

And what are the purposes of 15/16/18 in this diagram.

Help, much appreciated, thanks.

15-16 look like wheel balancing weights to me. Iirc the centre caps fit from the inside but I'm talking 20 years since my 1.1c!!

As above they are all the different types of balancing weights.

The caps stay on the use of 12, which are black plastic nut covers I think. The caps just clip over the lips in the centre of the wheel, the bolts and covers help to hold them in place, make sure you have the centre caps on before attaching the wheel

Probably 😉

Yes as bored ow says the black caps just push on when the wheels are bolted on. You just sort of squeeze them as you push them in place and they clip behind the rim of the  nut ( providing you have original nuts I would presume). I think the wheel nut caps just help them stay in place a bit more.

Ah excellent, yeah i havn't tried bolting them on the car yet. Hmmm, i've got the nut caps, but not sure how it's going to work for the locking nuts, we'll see i guess.
