daft question ?

Hello people I have a question it may be daft but ….
Is there a differance in plugs gti to carb .
I have just swopped to a carb as my injection was naff I have no air leaks it starts fine pulls well idles great at 800-900 the pro len is when I pull away from start the car has a flat spot if my revs are lower than 2500ish the car almost stalls even happens in 2nd when crawling in traffic . I have 4 pin plugs in as that's what I was given when it was gti .  Could this be a problem
It is a 1.8 and set to 18 dbtdc  is this correct   .  BUT if I have the  choke half on there is no flat spot….Thankyou for any help .

If there's no flat spot when cold and the choke is 1/2 out then I guess you still need to have the choke on.

What carb are you running?

What fuel are you using as that affects the engine timing.

1988 Mk1 Golf GTi Cabriolet 1.8cc DX, K-jet. Daily drive. 317,000 miles and counting
1978 Mk1 Scirocco GLS 1.6cc FR, Webber carb. Weekend toy.

Hi  from what I can figure it's a weber 36 tlp  the flat spot is there cold warm and hot  lol but choke pulled a bit and it's gone . Someone said it could be the wrong plugs .  I use the poor man's tesco unleaded have used it for 3 years when it was injection I swopped because my metering head was leaking and my Injectors had a jet of fuel not a spray and also dripped
The car drives and runs perfect apart from pull away . ?

I'd check your fuel mixture is not set up too lean, double check for any air leaks, having the choke half way will richen up your mixture. Check the accelerator pump is working also.
What have you done regarding the fuel pump?

Hi thanks for replying  I found the mixture screw it was wound in tight so took it out and changed the o-ring then wound it in again then wound it out one and a half turns   it's a bit better but still have to choke it a little bit . So I guess I wind it out till it stops spluttering right ?
As for the fuel I took the intank pump out and the pump next to the tank blew the lines clear put a filter in the tank feed and fitted a bolt on mechanical one with a inline filter b4 the pump .
