Inlet manifold t-piece thing
Wondered if anybody could please let me know what the vacuum flange/multi thing that attaches to the inlet manifold is called and if it's possible to buy one. Mine is pretty knackered and two of the plastic nipples have snapped off. Any help gratefully received!

It's a one way valve, common problem for the nipples to break off. Depending on what car you have it powers the MPG on the MFA and onlater cars the throttle enrichment valve.
The car will run fine with the broken bits blanked off but if you remove the plugs the brake servo will not be happy….
The problem is the part is no longer available from VW, some later VWs have a plastic valve the same as yours but it needs cutting of the pipe and fitted to the original pipe work.

That's really helpful, thanks very much for the detailed reply. I imagined that it would have been a common issue as the part is so old and brittle. Great to know that it shouldn't really interfere with the running.mark1gls said

The rubber pipe behind that 1, going directly into the inlet manifold looks a little cracked and old if you have a running problem I would be looking at that 1.....
