What power steering fluid for 1989 VW Cabriolet

According to ETKA for a lhd version they list three numbers. I haven't checked the numbers against anything. They list G004000M2/7/8. Hope this helps

You can use Dexron III ATF fluid for the P/S If you have a leak it is way better to fix that as you can spend a few quid on P/S fluid.

yeah yeah mk1gls! i know the UK ones didnt have it cos my sisters mk1 cabriolet didnt have it and my mk 4 escort rs turbo doesn't have it either. I've not been over the pond long enough to forget that lol. But i sure do like it!! lol……kinda like the uk folks who "hate" the air conditioning…….. well come over to houston and drive around in your mk1 top up or down…. your choice…. but in 104F (40C) and we see who the real wimps are ;)lol. We dont need heaters here…….heaters are totally for wimps ;)lol

Drove a manual racks for Decades, it builds up your muscles. On the highway or rolling there is no difference.

Some of my manual cars were a tad easier to park than my Rabbit, but that was in my youth.

I now have a Electric steering, and well it is fine and less crud in the engine bay, but if your battery is on the verge of dying, it don't work and is tougher than a manual racked golf/rabbit/caddy/cabriolet.

So I went down to AutoZone today and bought dexron-VI apparently it's good to use in place of Dexron-II and Dexron-III per the label. Just and fyi for anybody else.
