Weber Carb Choke Cable Handle

Post

Hey guys, looking for some creative thoughts here….

Last night the Weber choke handle on the dash broke through the dash as I pushed it in….I honestly wasn't being forceful with it.

So the hole for cable/handle is now too large where the bracket broke it.
In short I'm looking for idea on how I can repair it without having the ball ache of replacing the whole dash.

The Dash is only pressed Cardboard/Paper that isn't water proof and absorbs moisture and will fail. So it was but a matter of time on a well used item.

I would take the Cable off the Carb, and out of the dash
This allows you to trim a Piece of steel (thin not tin) to fit the opening and to become the front washer, you will add a larger diameter fender type washer to the back side as well…

Run the Cable sheath back to the carb, and then you could do it 2 ways pull the inner cable out of the sheath and affix the repair, as now you have made that area stronger.  when you have tightened up the cable sheath insert the inner cable and be done with it.

Or you could make the Same steel Pieces and Slot them
So you can place them over the cable without taking the inner cable out.

What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?

They all start with GOOD Grounds.
