Warm air intake pipe.

Post

I was changing the air filter today and noticed that the pipework from the filter box has a piece of pipe that goes from the intake part to near the manifold. I guess this is the warm air intake for when its cold. My pipe is damaged but it appears to be a flexi piece of aluminium kind of stuff, one end is pushed on and the other was held by a jubilee clip. It doesn't look quiet original to me but cant find anything about it. can anyone tell me what the original pipework should look like. Thankyou.

The original hose as aluminum foil covered paper, it is called a PRE-Heat hose.

There is a take off between the 3rd and 4thd cylinder exhaust where it connects usually with a hose clamp or Stainless Steel Wire-tie.  then over to the Airbox.

I took mine off when I changed the manifold and then proceeded to remove the Vacuum line that the Pre-heat on the air box used….

Most of us on this side of the pond removes it, I live in the southern US, and it doesn't really get that cold.

What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?

They all start with GOOD Grounds.

if you have fuel injection engine feel free to bin and forget.

carb engines can suffer from carb icing without the warm air system so ideally you want to keep it
