Mk1 Gti engine code EG
Hi,
1.6 Gti engine. prefix EG
Car bought part assembled.
Came with boxes of bits which seem to be from both the 1.6 and 1.8 engines.
AAV connection to the manifold had a single connection and the connection from
the grey 'Y' shaped unit coming from the front of the manifold is connected by way of a home
made 'T' piece.
Just doesn't look right.
The outlet from the front of the manifold to which the grey 'Y' shaped piece and servo pipe
attach has two small vacuum outlets both of which are blanked off with tape.
Again it doesn't look right.
Looking through the boxes I cam across a piece of hose with a one way valve attached
This clearly attaches to the brake servo pipe at one end.
Is this the one that should be fitted to my engine?
It would deal with the two blanked outlets on the one way valve currently fitted
and the issue of the single connection from the AAV to the manifold.
Photos attached.
Thank you

This is only a guess - the piece of pipe in the third pic looks llike it would fit between the inlet manifold and AAV, obviously without the valve, so perhaps that is correct and the 1.6 didn't have the 'Y' piece etc and what you now have is the 1.8 set up adapted to the 1.6 manifold with a home made 'T' piece.
I would just put the 'T' piece back.
