Urgent Recommendation For Garage In West Yorkshire - Save my Cabby

On 27th May 2012 I butchered our Mk1 Golf GTi. The windows were playing up and after checking the electrics in the doors and not finding the fault I decided to take the dashboard out and try and trace the problem.


Over 5 years later poor Gurtie is still in pieces in the garage after I never found the time to go back to it, and from lack of knowledge/expertise I honestly always doubted I could get her back together.


We move house over the next couple of weeks and I need to be able to move Gurtie, so I need to get her back together now. Can anyone recommend anyone that is good with classic cars, ideally Mk1 Golfs, that we can speak to about getting the work done? A quick Google turned up a few restoration garages but I would prefer a recommendation. We're in the Wakefield area so ideally somewhere near there but prepared to go further afield to get the job done properly.

The image shows what she currently looks like. I should have all the parts to put her back together, except for a few of the plastic stud things that hold the dash in place, some of those broke.



Initially we need Gurtie running again, but we then have a list of things we want doing to finish restoring her.

Who did you use as I'm south Doncaster and would like to know if there is knowledgable people round here

Interior I used doncaster trimmers the engine and gearbox I used a firm in Doncaster called A S D engines ltd the body work was done by rust to riches in market raisen the hood was done by a guy in askern .

Ah ok I though there was a general garage that knew mk1 well.
