As per title, wondering what the original colour was on an 83 GTI in mars red. My centre pieces are original and the lower one is a bit faded and the two side pieces are chrome ones that have been sprayed red and these are chipped and badly done. I would like to respray them to tidy things up a bit and wondered what colour to use. I'm not sure if it's mars red.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Could always replace them, rather than some dodgy sprayed up ones.. original is best, i like tha word i know they're £80 a full set but will look & last so much better. some muppet wants £250 on the bay of E's, werk34.de do them & other sites… perhaps Mark at Classic VW.

Thanks for the replies 👍🏻. I've done them in mars red no1.
Deandubya I will replace them one day but at the moment I'm spending on things that are essential and cosmetic things are being "tidied up" until the big resto (whenever that might be, lol). I agree with you that original is best though.
