tyre size???

mk1 golf cabriolet lowered 40mm .. iv got snowflakes 14" what size tyres ? i dont want 185 /60/14 as standard because of ugly big side wall
.. will 185 /50/14 be okay and not catch the arches?? please help

14" snowflakes with standard 185/60/14 won't rub the arches with a 40mm drop, as that's what size tyres and drop I've got.

Why do you want to change to 185/50/14 as the speedo and mileage will over read as the tyres will be smaller.
