Hello guys needs some advice, I'm planning on doing my timing belt on the 1.6 GTI, and I wanted to know, do you guys put any thread lock to the stud for the tensioner that screw on to the block or just screw it in as it is, also any other tips and advice you may be able to offer on a timing belt change, TIA

Thread lock for sure.
I had an issue when I did mine a few years back that the intermediate shaft seal was leaking and took a few days to get a new one. Only about £20 for the seal but worth getting one if not done for a long time.
Not sure the state of your cover but recommend seeing if you have a local powder coaters- I had mine done for about £20. Really smartened up the cover. (I live in Solihull so plenty to choose from in Birmingham). Could always paint it etc but I have a slight piercer coating obsession.
