Mk1 g60 timing belt cover

I have a mk1 g60 which only uses the inner part of the cover near engine. Anyway it seems to have a bit of play n looks to have been trimmed back possibly. I will get a new cover but i need to know if the outer part needs modified in any way to avoid chassis rail or anything.
