mk1 golf gti 1.8 cabriolet

Power steering pump not working.  Belt going around but not working.

Does anyone know if a pump from another model car will work with the Golf , have they successfully replaced?

I think the kit is the same for the earlier Mk2's but don't hold me to that. 👌

Power steering not fitted by VW to UK cars so not many of us UK people will be able to answer your question, can you find the VW part number on your pump and cross reference it with other models of cars?

I had a Mk2 Golf Gti with power steering a few years ago, have you checked the oil level and is the oil clean?
