Post

Hi!

I hope you could help me locate this noise, It only happens when starting the car cold after several days, after a few minutes it disappears.  I have tried to turn the engine off and on when it does but when starting it continues to do so.

I think the noise is coming from the ignition distributor.. the longer it is standing, the more noise it makes.  is there anything that can be done?

Never heard anything like that.
Have you tried lightly touching the distributor to see if you can 'feel' the noise if you know what I mean.

Does the noise change as you rev it? Sounds like something catching like a fan on a clipping something, but the fan isn't running so it can't be that…..

You could take the dizzy off and rotate it by hand to see if you can feel anything.

My rebuild thread I will try and keep up to date: here

Take the rotor cap off, and reseat the rotor and the cap.

I have had that happen to me out of the blue once.
That is what I did to correct it.

What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?

They all start with GOOD Grounds.

Where are my DIY Links?

Thanks! i will try that.

i have noticed that it does not do the "cold start" when its cold. The RPM stay at 700 and 950 when warm..
