Mk1 scuttle needed, and battery tray!

Post

Hello, I am new here, and new to Mk1 golf ownership.

I have bought (about 4 weeks ago or so) a black mk1 golf gti which requires re-building.

The guy who had it and has done alot of work on the body wanted to make it a show car with a smoothed engine bay, single wiper etc etc, all of which I am planning to put back to standard.

Also he cut away the battery tray, and scuttle panel under the bonnet.  These are two things that I need, either from a rotten shell or new.

Has anyone any idea where I can get either of these?  Also will be needing lots more bits and pieces in the next few months!

I will be making a proper thread on the re-build once I get going properly with it, I only got it up on my roller jig yesterday.

Thanks in advance
Nick

I don't know much, but willing to tell others what I might do if'n I had the time, willingness, knowledge and monies always leaves some folks either scratching their head or laughing their posteriors off.  :)

vw-golf-mk1-2_featured.jpg DMPD-Show-2013-PMcG-5.jpg 5526738067_5b1482df1c_b.jpg IF a show car i take it they smoothed the bay out? so you dont require scuttle/firewall,  And for battery if going with big engine from say mk4 then most relocate the battery to the boot.  Take a picture of bay and share to forum or compare to others..

have a good look, and ill try find som epictures of bay for you, although none of mine are smoothed.

Hi nicci2paul, maybe briano doesnt see uk news and that travel to collect parts is frowned upon during the current lockdown, this is new to most around the world.

I don't have an issue, I was trying to say help to a Gent that bought a modded car and wants to take it back to oem… I like OEM,   I was trying to thank Paul for saying I have the parts and offering them I know all too well about this virus, as I am a customer facing folk that has to put up with some folks and their nonsense… Oh the stories I could tell….

I wasn't meaning it as a slight at all.  I am terribly sorry that you took it that was as that is not what I was trying to convey.  Mea culpa, Mea culpa, Mea culpa,

Both of you gents offered valuable service to a fellow member.

Paul your sig says it all.

You did just that.

I can see where the confusion is  as my reply could be seen as a slight, but here it is a complement.

"That's it…..Step right up and into it."

You stepped right up and offered your assistance…. or into the fray?  Sorry it was misconstrued.

Hi gents, thanks for your replies, what with not being at work, i haven't been checking my emails!
I have instead been scraping rubber underseal off the underside of the golf - a mind numbing job!!!

I am guessing that postage on these items isn't really practical?

Well from over on this side of the pond, it would be a killer, but I think with wrapping and boxing it wouldn't be over 15 lbs.  The Battery tray may weigh about 3lbs, and the rain tray or scuttle wouldn't be over 5 at most….  Trouble is that with the Stay at home order here, and well you can't get in to UPS or FED-up…let alone the postal office…

My daughter went there yesterday to get stamps, and could only get them out of the vending machine…
