2002 city golf oil light blinking - oil pressure not low

oil light

Hi, I have a 2002 city golf. Oil pressure light came onto while driving. Car was serviced 2 months ago. Oil filter replaced and oil.

Checked the oil level before I left, it was good! It ONLY comes on if I brake and while in full stop. Stops blinking when accelerating above 1000RPM.

My speedo cable has a slight jump. Also my Odometer has stopped working. We will be getting a replacement cluster soon. My question.. could it possibly be because of the speedo cable etc not working correctly since its all one unit as I understand??

Just the oil a little while ago - still good

What else could be a problem or concern?

Any suggestions or advice would be appreciated

I would suspect that you may have a bad ground on the instrument cluster or that the 12Vdc in is weak as in bad connection.

You could also be dealing with a bad sending unit.

FLickering oil light from hades on my Cabriolets (know good working clusters) were usually too thin a vis on the oil, or a Generic, Storebranded, Fram, Bosch filter.

Are you using too thin of an oil, or a cheap filter?  If not then you may want to replace the sending unit on the head.

What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?

They all start with GOOD Grounds.
