Raceland SS cat Delete.
Which I also have, and will install as soon as my car hits the 25 year old mark.
I have also installed a PaceSetter header on a Earlier Cabby I had. Slight mod was needed to clear the sway bar. But a good torch and a hunk of pipe I got it to stop.
Either way that you go with the above you will need to extend your o2 sensor wires, use the same gauge of wire, solder and heat shrink them, they aren't special 2 white and one black, white to white and black to black.
You will also need to heat shield the thing as it can cook your power steering rack /or non PS steering rack. I used old license plates and a wrap of aluminum bolted with 3 inch SS steel screws and double nutted or lock nutted. You could use hose clamps of sufficient size.
The original 1.8 cabby single port manifold was a Crappy design and prone to cracking, I had 3 cabbies and all 3 cracked at similar places.
The Old standard Toilet Bowl Manifold never cracked on my 81 Diesel in the 20 years I owned it.
My Cracked Manifold.
You can have your Cracked welded, as many have, but you need to find a good welder, who knows about CAST Iron and welding, as you have to heat the whole thing up to get the welds right… Welding Cast is a art.
Lastly, if the manifold isn't off the head yet or the engine isn't out of the car, spray the Head Studs with PB-Blaster days before, every day, then 20 minutes before, and right before you are to take it off Start the engine and let it warm up for about 2 minutes….. Then use a 6pt Air Impact to lessen the possibility of Torque Shearing the Studs in the head, Did that to 2 of them with a 12 inch hand ratchet. Had to remove the head and have a shop heli-coil it.
If the studs come out, replace them with SS studs with the Driver head as they are easier to install, and coat everything with Never-Seize so you can get them back out years later with no fuss.
What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?
They all start with GOOD Grounds.
