Mk1 1.8 20v t conversion running problems

Hi I have fitted a 1.8 turbo in a mk1 running at DTA ecu and loom am running standerd mk1 gti fuel pump it's hard to start and idle is rough can anyone point me in the right direction am thinking fuel or plugs or could it be a vac problem  I have new plugs to fit tomorrow after I run it plugs look black been scratching my head all day
