Tyre/wheel size

I'm looking to find out the standard wheel spec & tyre size for my cabby, she's an '85 GL & currently has telidials on, which I really don't like….. 

Hello and welcome.  The GL would have had steel wheels with chrome hub caps 5J X 13 with either 155 SR 13 tyres or 175/70 SR 13. during 1985 the stock of the old style wheels began to run out and some were delivered with steel wheels of the Mk2 Golf 5.5jx 13 with 175/70 tyres.

If you would like to be subtlely different, see if you can obtain the original slightly wider GTI steel 13" wheels 5 x 5.5" with 175/70 tyres. You can still fit the Chrome hubcaps.
