Golf MK1 Radio

Post

Hi all,

I just have one quick question about fitting a vintage radio in my MK1(I am currently looking at the Blaupunkt models). Which one of these, if any, would you recommend?

- Blaupunkt Munster
- Blaupunkt Frankfurt
- Blaupunkt Nurenberg M11
- Blaupunkt Emden G

Also, were any of these fitted originally in MK1's?

Many thanks! :)

My car isnt at my house and i cant remember what i bought. But the blaupunkt's carry the names through the decades,  so you cant get a 50's 60's 70's 80's 90's 2000's etc frankfurt.    so basically you just need any early 80's blaupunkt, that could be just a radio, or also have a tape deck.  Do you want ti just for show or to actually work?

Thanks for the thread, its proving helpful.
I would like it to work but I what I really want that retro feel to the car, I am also slightly more inclined to just radio, no tapedeck.

I have found this model, http://www.radiomuseum.org/r/blaupunkt_nuernberg_m11m_1.html , which is 1981/1982.
I have also found somewhere to buy one in good condition for £50-£60.

I also found this on ebay:

Would you say any of these would be a nice buy?

Thanks for the help!

I payed 60 quid for mine not a high spec model as a frankfurt though.

You want one with U (fm) for it to be any use which that frankfurt has. also on the back of the frankfurt is a round socket, you can get a lead to plug in there to play mp3s through.

Thanks, I think I'll probably go for the Frankfurt then and do an MP3 conversion.

The Frankfurt model will fit in the dash wont it?
