WANTED

Hi there
Iv recently bought a 1989 cabby. Small issue needing resolved quickly is the locks. Passenger keybarrel is missing but operates from the inside,  and driver side key won't operate the barrel. Again this also works from the inside. So im basically looking to source 2 complete sets if possible. Any pointers would be appreciated. Iv seen sets on e bay but heard they have issues in fitting to the cabby?
Thank Louie

Welcome to the club first of all.

I'm sure someone has some knocking around somewhere, so just sit tight and lets see what we can find in the way of replacements! 👍

Sounds like you need to buy a set of handles with Keys, then have the lock cylinders re-keyed for your ignition key.  If you are missing the lock cylinder then you are probably missing the locking pawl on the rear and the return spring.  So it isn't just a Barrel that you need.

www.cabby-info.com has a link to how to re-key your locks thread

What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?

They all start with GOOD Grounds.

Where are my DIY Links?

mk2 golf door locks will fit which you can use to re-tumble. the mk2/3 ignition lock is also the same, boot lock is not the same but the mk2/3 one can be stripped for its tumblers as can all the other mk3 locks

you can use mk2 glovebox lock parts to convert the mk1 item to accept the ignition key as well ;)
