1988 clipper wiring connections

Hi guys!

Does anyone know what these connections are for? They run behind the carb, along the firewall and then disappear

I cant find the other end of the connections anywhere in the engine bay!

Have you got a Webber carburettor fitted? Think they would of gone to the original pierburg carburettor.

It looks too new to be an original part, so i can only assume its a webber

As long as the connections arent for anything important then i'll leave them in place

A lot of Mk1 owners upgrade to a Weber because the pierburg can be troublesome. Just tape the wires up to protect them. There should be another wire running from the same loom that goes to the manifold pre heater under the manifold, is that connected?

Is your clutch pedal heavy?

That clutch cable seems to be routed the wrong way or the wrong cable fitted as it's got a sharp angle on it and it looks like the cable casing is splitting because of the angle… looks like someone has repaired the bulk head at some point as you can see the welds, may be worth fitting stick on plate as well as common problem for the cable to pull through the bulk head.

My cable goes infront of the engine not behind..

I could be wrong as I've a fuel injection car….

The clutch is heavy, i just assumed it was like that because its cable only and not hydraulic/servo assisted with more modern car?

I havent followed the cable yet so i dont know where it leads, it could well be installed incorrectly and does need to go in front of the engine like you say.

Have you got some pictures of the correct layout?

Unknown connectors

I have same wires in my clipper and was told the loom was made for use with other models and spec.
