need a new one

Hi,

not sure if I have the name right of the part that I need. It is the part that sits on top of the air box. It controls the flow of petrol and has loads of little pipes? does anyone know or have a decent one that they can sell me pls?

Or can anyone advise as to why the damn thing starts, hunts and then wont run when you press the accelerator it dies? strong smell of fuel as well.

Lumpy running, strong smell of petrol etc is probably its running to rich, what do the spark plugs look like?

Could also be weak spark.
Leaking fuel injectors if it only does it when cold and is ok ish when hot….

On the 8v cars the thing that controls the flow of petrol to the injectors is call the metering head.

Sorry but can't help with tuning etc as I've not worked on a 16v engine…

Hi, the cowboy that did my engine conversion actually cut away the bottom of the air box so that it would fit in the gap over the alternator, would this play a part in the problem?

Believe its common practise to cut bottom of airbox when doing this conversion, which is why the scirrocco 16v manifold did/does command such a high price as it keeps airbox in original position..

'metering head'

have a read before you buy anything:
https://clubgti.com/forums/index.php?threads/how-to-check-repair-and-tune-your-mk2-corrado-1-8-16v.195423/

and its fine to cut the airbox, did this on mine no problem. worst thing that could potentially happen is air filter gets wet, arch liners helps with this and/or you could make a guard to fit underneath
