Hi, I know this has been done to death but I just can't find the right info with the same set up. I've rushed in and bought a set of steel rims. 15x7.5j and 15x8j ET40 to eventually Stick on my mk1 GLS tintop. The car as it sits is stock standard, but soon will be getting it waxoyl bottom and wanted to do suspension/brakes/wheels at the same time. I'm leaving the standard calipers, just doing disc/pads/servo/master cylinder upgrade. I'm looking at getting KW 1 Coilovers. No roll on the archers…has anyone on here got a similar set up?? What size tyres/spacers. I really don't mind if the tyres are stretched or flush just want it as low as possible with no rubbing. Thanks for any help!! (I'm seriously new at this game)

Now I'm questioning wether I need £800 Coilovers. I'll be using the car daily. No track days. Bumpy country roads. Are Coilovers really necessary?? Would wheel/tyre fit ment be a bit easy with lowering springs? Shock upgrades?

Wheels turned up today....they are actually ET43 not ET40...is this going to cause more of a problem? Or just bigger spacers?

The ET43 was on the original steel wheel.
These have been banded.
I've measured myself and they're et26 on the front et20 on the rear.
I'll start all over again.

Hi
I would stick with 195/45/15 on both that's what I have on my 7j and 8j set up, 175 is only 175mm that's 6.9 inches your wheels are 7.5 and 8 inches the stretch will just get you pulled by the police, especially on the 8j. And 45's should keep them nicely tucked.

It's just as well the offsets have changed otherwise them widths and offsets would of fouled the suspension particularly on coilovers
