Tonneau cover

Post

Hopefully someone can help me, I bought a used tonneau cover for my 1990 cabriolet but I just can’t get it to fit properly. It goes on just doesn’t fit right and I can’t find all of the poppers on the car.

Sorry about out the bad photos ☹️

Should have two loops on the roof itself where it meets the body with 2 hooks on the cover

There is a popper each side (one of mine had snapped and was inside the cover

Finally when you put the rear seat down there is 2 indents in the plastic at the sides of the seat

Should be 2 bits of elasticated material on the cover with hooks on the end to go into them

Oh and the velcro straps to drop into the boot and go onto the bottom of the parcel shelf

Yes you are missing the 2 rear boot tabs.

There are also issues that the straps under the parcel shelf don't hold the velcro.  I have added a snap to them and affixed the male part to the Parcel shelf with a screw.

Lastly there are the elastic cords with a snap that hold the inner edges of the plastic wheel well cover.  The do get stretched out and need to be replaced.

There are also differences between the early 80=81 Cabriolet Frames that they sit higher and you may have the improper boot on the car for the frame as the frame has been changed.

What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?

They all start with GOOD Grounds.

Where are my DIY Links?

That bag looks very small in the pictures   is you good fully down? Is it manual or powered. If manual you have to push down to engage the locking mech.on powered roof keep pressed till down ,if not going down further check the folds of roof are correct.. You do seem short of the tabs  but that said unless roof down you'll not need to attach . To add loops on old roof may cause damage to material as have to be put on the long cable that runs in the roof channel and its holding in the roof.
Check it's down correctly,  then fit loosely over hinges,  pull back down towards where loops and wire hooks should be. Fit front 2 press studs 1 each side. The big loops in rear I dont have all elastic  I put 2 marker pens through  and that stops it been pulled out  .
