Sunroof cables

Plastic sliders have cracked on my mk1 gti sunroof sliders, cant find new ones anywhere. Does anyone know if the porsch 911 all steel sliders and cables fit? Or volvo 240 of mk2 ?
Any help would be greatly recieved 

I'm having the same problem with my 82 rabbit. I am in the process of jb welding them because I can't find replacements. Did you find out what is going on with the 911?

Hi there, didn't get anywhere with the 911 or Volvo ones, think the all steel slider in the Volvo 240 looked like the ones to go for but the cables are around 50mm shorter. Finally purchased a second hand from ebay, taken from a Mk2 golf.
