Steering column rebuild bearings etc

Does anybody know how to remove the lock barrel from the steering column so I can rebuild this thing? Have it all stripped down except that and just can't seem to figure it out. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks 16361401513391998619054.jpg

Thanks, yeah, I said lock barrel but i actually meant the whole lock barrel housing the whole grey metal piece so I can get access to the bearing inside and also the steering column spacer.

Only an Allen or Torx to remove the bolt that clamps the upper steering bearing holder.

Take a good sized Straight slot Screwdriver and place it in the gap that is behind the bolt you remove.

Smack it lightly with a hammer and the housing will expand  just keep smacking it until you have sufficient gap so it can slide off the exposed shaft.

Once you have it out, then you can separate the spacer and splines off the shaft, just tale a picture prior so you can see the location of the things prior to removing.

IMG_20211105_142832.jpg Thanks Briano1234, yeah I have the steering column housing separated already, the bit that bolts to the underdash mounts is already slide off and I've blasted and painted it. But the steering lock mechanism is still connected to the inner shafts, the sliding one and the one it slides into, that were both housed inside the steering column housing. I Think nicci21paul is correct, it looks like I have to take the spline adapter off then there looks like a sleeve then the lock mechanism housing should slide off exposing the bearing and inner spacer. I'm Just not sure how to get that spline adapter off. Think there a steering wheel spline puller tool somewhere on Amazon so going to see if that might be an option.

Bad advice to whack a screwdriver into or bend a cast alloy part, seen those tabs break off. Steering wheel adapter needs to come off first. You have the wrong spacer for the adapter, should be a spring not plastic tube.

I used a different word than you but I have also had bad things happen with I lightly pried things apart where they tore, or broke off.  So the old time adage CA-CA can occur is always applicable.

Any sage advice sporttrucker on how to get that adapter off? This is where I am at but the thing just won't budge. The puller is buckling, had to use the vice to hold the legs on, but the vice isn't clamped down only holding the legs from spraying out. Thing just won't come off….. IMG_20211109_114241.jpg

Ok problem solved! Got angry and went to the local hardware store to mcgiver something! well it Just so happens they have a bearing separator /puller that's different to all the other I've seen. Purchased! I now have 4 different types of bearing and pulley pullers Lol! All do different jobs I guess. Anyway it took longer to put this bad boy together  than it took to take that adapter off. This thing was well worth the $49 from harbor freight, SKU 62593,  93980. worked a treat for this if anybody else has same problem in future and it's stout!
