Hi guys, was wondering if anyone knows of any sites to get a mk1 golf cabriolet speedo cable from? As all I can find is that there sold out and can only find automatic speedo cables in stock. Thanks

There's a few about at about £35 unless someone knows of a better price. I'll go and find some numbers.

Depends on the year over here as if you have the oxs light on the DASH as in pre-90's then you have a 2 piece cable one from the tranny to the counter box, and then the short stubby from the counter box to the back of the speedo.

Over here a lot of folks are getting a once piece unit from a 90's cabriolet, and using but leaving the box connected so they can reset the light.

Be-warned not to drop the speedo gear in to the tranny if it doesn't easily come out, Jack your car or place it in gear and rock it back and forth to hopefully remove the gear binding that can occur, and you drop the gear and clip into the transmission causing a tear down….if you can't retrieve it…  More on how to do that later if it happens to you.  :) . What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?

They all start with GOOD Grounds.

I know that feeling. We've gone from 100% autos to 50% now. The  Mk2 Scirocco and the Mk3 Golf estate are great.
I'm now into the world of sorting out sloppy gear changes on the cabbies. Mind you the 1500 is quite nippy as well.

When I was rocking my Manuals 1980 Golf Diesel, and a 90 Cabriolet with the AUG I bought the Missing Linkz short shifter kit and Weighted Billet (a lot more cost effective than the others) and man, the difference was tremendous…Took a lot of the slop, and iffy feeling out of them.
