Shorter Master Cylinder for 7" Servo?

I'm desperately needing more space in front of the master cylinder in my MK1 Golf GTI, due to an engine/gearbox upgrade.
Commonly you would use the shorter 22mm MC from a MK2 Golf etc, but this only works if you also use the MK2 Servo.
I don't want to upgrade to a bigger servo, as firstly I bought a brand new genuine VW MK1 servo (£££!), secondly I have 280mm brakes and wilwoods, so a larger MC is not needed.
Can anyone confirm if a direct bolt-on (four port) shorter master cylinder is available to fit the original 7" servo?
TIA

I'm sure my Derby would take a mk1 golf M/C and I ended up using a Lupo one with no problems.
Is it the throw of the actuator rod that means it won't work or the where it actually bolts on?
I'm intrigued as I hadn't hear this before and thought they were all pretty much interchangeable.

The usual shorter MC's only work with a MK2 servo etc, as the length/size of the actuator rod is different.

my wilwoods needed a bigger mc, used a 25mm one from a t4 even the 22mm made it have a lot of pedal travel
Was that T4 mc connected to the original 7" servo without modification? Or are you using a bigger MC?
I find fine tuning the rear brakes significantly reduces pedal travel.
