Series 1 13" tyre size help!

Post

Hi, I have a series 1 Gti with 13" original alloys with 175/ 70 HR tyres fitted. I'm looking for any recommendations on tyre choice (I want to keep the original wheels). Also any recommendations for other tyre sizes which don't have any clearance issues. The suspension set up is all original. Thanks Dave

175 70 13 82H was the stock size for series 1 GTI's but you struggle to find the "H" speed rating on such small tyres these days. I think Uniroyal still do them.

I bought some Pirelli CN36's from https://www.longstonetyres.co.uk/pirelli-collezione/cinturato-cn36/175-70vr13-pirelli-cinturato-cn36.html which although expensive are brilliant tyres and look period.

We have a facebook group trying to locate all the remianing UK series 1 GTI's. I wonder if yours is on the list?

Thanks for the reply, will look at the cn36 and uniroyal options.

My GTi won't be on the list as yet. It's been in hibernation since 1987 and owned from new by my late dad.
