Replacing Front Window Mechanism (MK1 Cabby)

Hi,

Help needed….. I need to replace both front window mechanisms, when I got my golf it was fitted with aftermarket electric windows, which now the drivers side has broken.

I have managed to get the electric mechanism out and the manual one in on the drivers side, however I am now having trouble getting the window to raise and lower straight and in an even fashion.

I have replaced the mechanism and the w indow lift channel. Is it just a case of  adjusting all to the channel bolts and bits (Sorry not sure how to explain it) until I can get it to work correctly.


Any help will be appreciated. If more info is required please let me know.

manual wndows needs to be even, so you may have to adjust the glass to the rail.

Every bolt is an adjustment.. so take care to align the window, and lube every pivot point.

Including that channel clean it with soapy hot water…. the channels could be  dirty and holding the glass.

This will be a job for tomorrow. I will just take my time and give every thing a good clean and lube.
