With the car being on and off the road and disconnecting and recharging the battery and what not, my negative battery terminal clamp has a developed a beauty of crack and the positive looks passed its best as well. I am sure this is leading to an insecure and poor connection. Before i have a go, is the more modern quick release clamps an easy swap over or would you suggest the more classic type clamps and if so any suggestions?.. and excuse my ignorance, but if i do go for the quick release clamps some of the other cabling with ring crimps that currently sit through the old terminal bolts, do you just remove the ends of these , clean up, and fit all wiring together through each respective positive and negative quick release clamp necks..if you know what i mean.
Appreciate your thoughts…and a happy xmas to all when it comes….

I've not tried the new type but I still like the original ones, as long as you use and maintain them correctly they should last a lifetime.
Well 15 to 20 years at least.
But if you're having to constantly take them off and on that's a different matter or course. Not sure how long the new type will last under those circumstances.
My Cabby for example is 27 years old which I bought back in 2012.
I take mine off maybe 4 or 5 times per year including putting it away over winter. But they clean and treated with copper slip. 👍🏼

If you've got lots of additional wies connected to the terminals I'd suggest a set of mk3 golf ones from a scrappy somewhere.
It's probably worth getting a new main earth strap too whilst you're at it.
Not used the quick release ones, I'd think they'd be a bit too loose over time.

replace the main grounds with 2 off the shelf cables from a auto store of your choosing. Battery to frame and frame to engine/tranny… But the new cables with take offs so you can get rid of the additional ring wires off the nutted side.
What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?
They all start with GOOD Grounds.

MK3 golf cables are a bit beefier, and the battery terminal design is much nicer.
for the negative grab 2 mk3 cables, and dont forget the bolt with wee stud on the end on the gearbox it attaches to you'll need to swap that over.
cut the 2nd cable down so you have a length of cable with 2 ring terminals, 1 end to the bolt on the chassis leg the old cable went to and attach the other end direct to the battery or the middle ring terminal on the 1st mk3 cable with a nut and bolt
