Replacement dipstick & guide for Tintop GTi DX

I bought this from VW Heritage as a replacement for my original dipstick (the one with the bent loop handle and green plastic seal into the tube).  I also bought the matching dipstick guide.

However they are nowhere near the right size, far far too long.  Am I correct in thinking that for this to be used, I would have to replace the actual dipstick tube from the engine block?  If that's the case, then the original will remain.

I replaced both mate on my 1.8 and had no fitment issues

I think there may be a difference to the later model cab DX's verses the tintop

My dipstick guide has snapped off, is t a matter of just pull and it will come off or there a certain way to take these off ?

I'm none the wiser, I presume the whole dipstick tube would need to be changed in the block for this to work as it's nearly double the length of the original. I'll just stick to the original one.

Think I've found the answer, and it would involve replacing the guide tube which is overkill.
