Rear arch tyre rubbing

I've got a lowered '90 cabby in a ridiculous paint-job.
The rear tyres often kiss the arch when going a bit rapid over bumps or there's weight in the back.
Just replaced the rear suspension shock & springs — ride smoother, but issue still there. Can't have it constantly rubbing the shoulder of the tyres down… pricey & dangerous.
Anyone got any ideas/recommendations to sort this out?
Arch roller folk don't seem happy to work on it because of the body kit, and I can't find a body shop to grind the lip nearby.

You really can't lower a Mk1 Golf that much without losing available travel, which makes it horrible to drive on normal roads.
Add wider tyres into the mix, and the problem is even worse - assuming you actually have suspension with the proper bump stops to prevent body contact.

I've got 195/50/R15 tyres on the car right now, the smallest that I can have on the 15 × 7 wheels.
It's just the shoulders that kisses over bumps.

I can't comment form personally experience as I'm on standard wheels.
Have a read here or lots more info on the web..
