Paint Codes

Post

I am having a little problem. I have 87 Cabrio and its in for full respray. But had a call saying the colour it is now was not original. So the paint code is wrong. But I like the colour it is now and wanted it the same. Its a kind of Silver, blue, grey metallic, not sure if you can see well enough in the picture.
Wondered if anyone out there has one of similar colour and could post a picture so I could try to give them a code.
Just don't want to go to silver with it, like the bluey grey tint. Sorry its a bit vague, just clutching at straws really.
Got the colour code sites of here but hard to visualize, last resort is going to garages and physically looking at cars and asking for a code that way. Needle in a haystack comes to mind. Any ideas would be appreciated,
Thanks in advance IMG_1002.JPG IMG_1006.JPG IMG_1087.JPG

Hi mate. Looks suspiciously like my cabbies color. My paint code is LY5V sapphire metallizzo.
Is the sticker on the back of the rear seats missing as it's usually on there.
Might be worth validating that code before committing to buying paint as mine is a 1990 model and I'm not sure what length of time that paint was used for.👍 20170714_160500.jpg 20170603_145708.jpg 20170308_152633.jpg

Thanks for the reply, it does look similar. Does yours have the blue/grey tinge to the silver as well

It does yes. Looks really nice in the night under lights.
Will you be at the AG17 this weekend as you'll be able to see it there?

I can't make it, I am in Belfast. I was hoping to have her all sprayed up to attend.
Thanks for taking time to put pics up, yours looks cracking by the way. I think it is the colour I am going with. As I said, didn't want it to bright silver. That slight blueness to it goes with hood. The hood is perfect so don't really want to change it.
Thanks again

Digital cameras and monitors are going to make every car look different on a computer screen.

If you tell your spray shop you just want the same color it already is if they are any good they should be able to match it up to a paint chip at there paint suppliers or custom mix it.

That's a shame you can't make it. I'm cutting it fine myself. My clipper kit and bonnet are still at the painters and I'm off to pick them up in an hour so looks like I've got a busy day getting it finished off for tomorrow.
Fingers crossed…

Hope you get her all sorted. I aim to be there next year. Hopefully few more little bits done. Have a good day and thanks for posting. Has been good help

Thanks Keith for your reply, I had a chat with paint shop and he was a bit more upbeat today. All no problem now for some reason. Going to look on Monday at sample before it gets done.

Again thankyou gentleman

No probs Stroggie. Just had to come inside now as the dark is making me rush things.
Got my clipper kit back this morning and have spent the afternoon and evening trying to fit it on and aligned correctly.
Picked up the bonnet as well and got that stuck on so at least it's a complete car now but if anyone sees a silver/ blue cabrio at Stratford tomorrow with panel gaps and a badly fitted clipper kit then I apologies beforehand.
Its been a long day and my back has seen better days but at least I shall have plenty of time after the weekend.to straighten it out.. 👍😜👍
