Buzzing/Replacing

Hey!

So. My 1989 Mk1 Cab has been buzzing at me for about a year now (yes I know, i'm a terrible person for neglecting it. I understand that turning up my music is not a solution.. oops). The good news is that because its been so long, I feel confident in thinking its nothing serious (luckily) and I just need to replace the switches? However. I looked at Europarts and they advised me which one I would need (yes, I said one. I am 100% self taught and don't really know anything about cars until something goes wrong and I try to fix it myself. Didn't realise until after I bought the switch that there are two.. oops again..). The one that I have been given is almost a baby blue colour but says that it is a 0.25 BAR.. am I right in thinking that it needs to be a 0.3 BAR and a 1.8 BAR? have I bought the wrong one? What colour should it be?

If ya'll could send me any links or information of the correct switches I need to get, you would be my hero.

Also, if I could get some tips with:
- any information that might help me with the issue
- how to change them
- where to find the second switch cus I could only see where one is..

If I don't do better, I think my car might leave me…

Please save us.

Peace and Love.

Oil light flashes & buzzer goes off, oil pressure is fine

More than likely, the problem lies with a faulty oil pressure switch.

Test the high-pressure switch on the oil filter flange by raising the engine rpm up to over 2000.  Remove the blue-black wire from the switch and connect it to ground.  If the buzzer stops buzzing and/or if the warning light stops blinking, the switch is faulty and should be replaced.  The 1.8 bar pressure switch is normally closed, completing the path to ground.  If the oil pressure is insufficient the switch will open, breaking the path to ground sending a signal to the low pressure warning system (a switch that is stuck open will cause a continuously blinking light and/or warning buzzer).
Test the low-pressure switch on the cylinder head by removing the yellow wire with the engine running.  If the warning light stops flashing, the switch is faulty and should be replaced.  The 0.3 bar switch is normally open when the engine is running.  If the oil pressure is insufficient the switch closes, completing the path to ground sending a signal to the warning light (a switch that is stuck closed will cause a continuously blinking light).

The white switch on the oil filter housing is what buzzes the buzzer it is a low oil pressure at high rpm.

Usual causes are broken wire cruddy connection corroded, bad joint.

the white is a 1.8 bar.

The low pressure while idle is on the side of the head, on cabby's it is a Can that has 2 functions one low oil pressure while idle and the other is oil pressure sender that is sent to the center console.  IIRC it is .3bar

What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?

They all start with GOOD Grounds.

Where are my DIY Links?

I also had this issue with my GTi, I replaced a leaky oil pressure switch with a cheap aftermarket one and it kept buzzing after 2000 rpm......I then sourced one from VW heritage.....was a bit more expensive but have no issues since

Yeah I had an issue as well where it would flash at idle and stop at 1500rpm replaced the blue pressure switch and all sorted easy fix mate no issues. I did the same as you ignored it as the engine didn't sound like it had no oil pressure issues lol as above VW heritage is your place!
