Oil Light Flashing

Afternoon.
My oil light begins flashing after about 10 mins driving.
Does this indicate temperature or high/low pressure?
I have a 9a fitted and the light continues to flash even if I disconnect the high or low pressure switches, or even both at the same time.
Any thoughts?
Thanks
Andy

Too Thin an oil, and if it is disconnected then it will flash.
That should be the high pressure switch ont he oil filter flange. If it is low pressure at high rpm, then the light flashes and the buzzer sounds.
If it is the low pressure switch then the light flashes.
If you disconnect either you will get a flashy light.
If you are running a too thin of oil and a Generic Filter then it may flash or flicker at Idle.
So no sound, low pressure switch, sound and flash high pressure switch.
Replace the Switch and see what happens.
I run 20W50 with a Mann, or Mahl filter, but usually a WIX.
Known fickers occur with Store Brand, Generic, Bosch, Fram filters.

What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?
They all start with GOOD Grounds.
Where are my DIY Links?

Thanks Brian. I'll get a new low pressure switch and I'm planning on doing an oil service this weekend anyway.

if you disconnected the low pressure switch wire then it should NOT flash either with ignition or or while idling, so this suggests the low pressure wire is shorting out somewhere or you have faulty clocks.
disconnecting the high pressure switch wire will result in both a light and buzzer when rpm is about 2k and above, but nothing at idle.
check behind the fusebox, see if you have a green/black or yellow fly lead separate from the fusebox between the engine loom to the clock loom. depending on the age/model you may have either colour, or neither
