no 82 relay

Hi all,  does anyone know what a number 82 relay does? I googled it but its not exactly clear what does. Something about the idle ??????

the painted on number at the top isn't the part number, it is the number that is stamped or painted on the sides.

www.cabby-info.com electrical relay or dash panel may be a better assist for you.

sorry mate, I should have said in my opening post, I got it at a car boot sale. I don't know what car its out of, but its deffo vw/Audi and it looks old.

aye its idle speed relay for HZ code MK2 golf and some polo. so its no use for a mk1 ;)
