Mk1 golf clipper

Hello again

So have repalced all ht leads dizzy cap and rotor arm this week and yes had a nigjtmare trying to get car fired up
Tried many different formats of 1342 with no joy
Checked haynes workshop and noticed mentioned anticlockwise so tried that format around the dizzy still no joy
Undone distributor and moved around check igniton coil for life all ok
Reverted ht leads to clockwise and wow started up left running while sorting out acclerater cable was sticking
Moved and Tigjten when engine sounded best running up distributor and labled ht lead switched off to see if she would restart and nothing and still no joy dont understand this if leads are correct battery charged ignition coil ok
Seems to defy logic this 😣
Have i just burnt off fuel that was passed through when trying all weekend ?
Or have i missed something here
Any help please

Is it 100% dry in the cap. You may be getting moisture condense inside the cap and prevent spark. Is it a brand new cap even if it is look really closely for some cracks. But agree a strange intermittent issue if electrical. Maybe a fuse board issue.  I remember years ago one of mine had a wet fuse board or partly burnt out and would only fire when cold.

What year is it mine started doing this ended up being a missing fuel line on the lift pump as it was sucking up air as well as fuel. Mine some time ran but would die if giving it hard revs or just not start at all

could be anything really but I would rule out dizzy and coil n leads as it has run
check your getting fuel at the injectors
