Difficulty fitting sunroof in hole now

Has anyone suffered from trying to refit the sunroof panel with a new seal on my Campaign not an easy fit and basically won't go in.

Thinking of getting the Vaseline or washing up liquid out but has anyone any other solutions/experience.

New sunroof seal.

I did one - it wasn’t a problem…. I had the lid upside down on my knees and carefully pushed the seal on all the way around with my hands/thumbs.

The seal is fitted ok on the sunroof panel and it does push on ok around the rim.

I think I'll try a good smear of Vaseline around the seal before fitting it in the aperture. If it does go in, I'll leave it in for a good few months to shape itself.

If not,  I've thought about cutting the front section out of the old one (which doesn't look too bad a section ) and rejoin it at the passenger side. I understand the single join is correctly placed at the drivers side of the panel.

Don't really want to do this as : a) another join susceptibility to leak and b) the new seal cost me 80 bucks!

Fingers crossed 🤞
