MK2 Digifiz Cluster (Compatibility with standard DX MK1?)

Post

I've always been a sucker for garish retro 80's interiors which look like something from Star Trek so I've been eyeing up the digifiz clusters you can find online which appear to have been for the mk2 golf but I've been wondering if it's possible to install one in a mk1 which hasn't had an engine conversion to a block from a later generation. The clusters seem to be going for insane money so if I ever do decide to grab one down the road knowing that it's compatible is something I'm after finding out.

yes. main problem is getting it to actually fit, some effort involved with the brackets. Its similar to normal mk2 clocks in shape but a bit wider at the back.

there are electronic speedometer senders available for all shapes of MK1 gearbox, you just have to pinch one from the equivalent MK3 gearbox

for the rev counter you need to have electronic ignition, then take the feed from pin 7 of the TCI unit/spark module (its the 7 pin thing in the scuttle)
